# Install and Requirements

What you need, and how to install it.

## Requirements

<table><thead><tr><th width="220">Item</th><th>Requirement</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Unity</td><td><strong>6000.0 or newer</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Scripting backend</td><td>Mono and IL2CPP, both supported</td></tr><tr><td>Platforms</td><td>Every platform Unity builds for, including AOT ones</td></tr><tr><td>Render pipeline</td><td>Does not matter. The demo ships a Built-in and a URP scene</td></tr><tr><td>Asset serialization</td><td><strong>Force Text</strong> is required for the <a href="/binding-system-3/project-tools/diagnostics/reserializer.md">Reserializer</a> and recommended for the project-wide diagnostics</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Binding System 3 requires Unity 6000.0. If your project is on an older editor, stay on the 2.x line: it keeps working and its documentation stays online.
{% endhint %}

## Install

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Asset Store" %}

1. Open **Window ▸ Package Manager**.
2. Switch the scope selector to **My Assets**.
3. Find **Binding System**, then **Download** and **Import**.

The package installs under `Packages/com.postica.binding-system`, so it stays out of `Assets` and out of your version control.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Local package" %}
If you received the package as a folder or a tarball, add it by path:

1. Open **Window ▸ Package Manager**.
2. Press **+** and choose **Add package from disk** (or **from tarball**).
3. Select `package.json` inside the package folder.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

On the first import the [Welcome Screen](/binding-system-3/getting-started/welcome-screen.md) opens, asks you to make a few decisions about the default settings, and links to the documentation. The questions depend on the version you install. Nothing else happens automatically: no code is generated, no components are added, and no scene is touched.

For the list of files the package adds to your project and the assemblies it ships, see [Project Files and Assemblies](/binding-system-3/reference/project-files.md).

## Import the samples

The demo scenes are shipped as package samples, so they only appear in `Assets` when you ask for them.

1. Select **Binding System** in the Package Manager.
2. Open the **Samples** section.
3. **Import** any of:
   * **Bindings Demo**: a playable scene built almost entirely out of bindings.
   * **Additional Converters**: example custom converters.
   * **Additional Modifiers**: example custom modifiers.

See [Demo Scenes](/binding-system-3/tutorials/samples.md) for a tour of what each one demonstrates.

## Verify the install

No code needed. Select any GameObject with a `Rigidbody`, right click the **Mass** label in the Inspector, and look for **Enable Binding** in the context menu. Click it, and a small hexagon toggle appears next to the label. Click that toggle and the field becomes a bind row. To undo it, right click again and choose **Disable Binding**.

If that entry is missing from the menu, the editor assembly did not load. Check the Console for compile errors, then reimport the package.

You can check the other half of the system with a single field:

```csharp
using Postica.BindingSystem;
using UnityEngine;
public class BindingCheck : MonoBehaviour
{
    public Bind<float> value;
}
```

It should appear as a normal float field with a small hexagon toggle on its left.
