# UniText

Proxy bindings inside UniText inspectors.

UniText, by LightSide, draws its inspectors with a UI Toolkit field pipeline of its own. They are neither IMGUI nor built from Unity's `PropertyField`, which is what the bind toggle normally attaches to, so without help a binding enabled on one of their fields would be stored and would run, but would not show.

The integration supplies that help. With it, UniText fields bind like any other: right click the field, choose **Enable Binding**, and the hexagon toggle and the bind row appear in place, in UniText's own layout. The same goes for every other inspector built on LightSide's field pipeline.

## Setup

None. The integration is a separate editor assembly, `Postica.BindingSystem.Editor.UniText`, compiled only when the UniText package (`media.lightside.unitext`) is in the project. It costs nothing when UniText is absent.

## What works

Everything a [proxy binding](/binding-system-3/overview/proxy-bindings.md) does: source modes, paths, converters, modifiers, update points and Live Debug. UniText components are not yours to edit, so every binding on them is a proxy binding.

These fields are always drawn with the full bind row, even with [Micro UI](/binding-system-3/overview/micro-ui.md) on, because the host lays the row out itself.

## Troubleshooting

<table><thead><tr><th width="330">Symptom</th><th>What to do</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Enable Binding</strong> is offered, but no toggle appears</td><td>The integration is not compiled. Check that the UniText package is installed through the Package Manager, then let Unity recompile.</td></tr><tr><td>A field inside a folded section shows no toggle</td><td>UniText builds a section's fields when the section is opened. The toggle attaches as soon as the field exists, so open the section.</td></tr></tbody></table>
